WHAT IS Tracheostomy Support?

Tracheostomy care involves managing breathing through a surgically created airway in the neck. Supports include cleaning, suctioning, equipment use, and emergency response.

  • Follow support plan for suctioning and airway maintenance
  • Clean and monitor stoma sites
  • Respond to blockages and breathing difficulties
  • Use tracheostomy equipment safely (valves, nebulisers, humidifiers)
